چکیده

Most applications can adapt their coding techniques and sending rates according to the network congestion and the resource needed can be provided at the beginning of the transmission. So traditional Differentiated Services (DiffServ) model is too rigid to them. In this paper, we are seeking a balance between the relative DiffServ and the absolute DiffServ and propose a new Diffserv model, a relative Differentiated Service model with admission control, which suits the adaptive application. By providing the proportional differentiated services in core routers and loss-rate based CAC control in edge routers, we can make both the network and the users adaptive: the network is adaptive to the traffic load and the users is adaptive to the network congestion. This model is promising to the elastic but unpredictable traffic, such as IP telephony or other multimedia applications. key words: Di Serv, QoS, CAC

A Fuzzy Based Three Color Meter/Marker for Diffserv Networks (RESEARCH NOTE)

Differentiated Services (Diffserv) which was proposed by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), is a scalable and robust model for providing the end-to-end QoS. In the Diffserv networks, metering mechanisms are used to measure traffic stream. The single rate Three Color Meter (srTCM) [1],which was proposed by IETF,‏ meters an IP packet stream and marks its packets either green, yellow, or red....

Proportional Delay Differentiation Employing the CBQ Service Discipline

The DiffServ architecture provides a scalable mechanism for QoS introduction in a TCP/IP network. The idea of DiffServ is based on the aggregation of traffic flows at an ingress (or egress) point of a network and the IP packet marking for different priority flows, according to several classification criteria. Two approaches exist in the DiffServ architecture: the absolute and the relative. In a...

A Novel Fuzzy Logic Base Scheduling Mechanism for Service Differentiation in IP Networks

Quality of Service (QoS) refers to a set of rules or techniques that help the network administrators use the available network resources optimally to manage the effects of congestion and to treat the applications according to their needs. The differentiated services architecture (DiffServ) allows providing quality of service to users. The major DiffServ premise is that individual flows with sim...

DiffServ node with join minimum cost queue policy and multiclass traffic

DiffServ, the vehicle for providing relative QoS in the Internet is also easily amenable to simple and effective pricing mechanisms. By pricing access to a relative QoS, we can model a DiffServ node as a ‘Join Minimum Cost Queue’ in which an arriving customer (packet or connection) determines the relative cost as a function of the congestion in the different queues and their access prices and d...

Cross-layer Packet-dependant OFDM Scheduling Based on Proportional Fairness

This paper assumes each user has more than one queue, derives a new packet-dependant proportional fairness power allocation pattern based on the sum of weight capacity and the packet’s priority in users’ queues, and proposes 4 new cross-layer packet-dependant OFDM scheduling schemes based on proportional fairness for heterogeneous classes of traffic. Scenario 1, scenario 2 and scenario 3 lead r...
